Ethos
Our exploration of the arts develops and showcases our participants’ confidence, interpersonal skills, physical dexterity, and ambition while providing a natural place to explore emotions and be their authentic selves.
We are a process-driven organisation that believes that the act of making, performing, and consuming art is a canvas for developing our participants’ communication, creativity, and confidence.
Although we are an ambitious charity, we aren’t allowing ourselves to be defined by the product of our artistic endeavours (although we hope to be world-beating in the art world too soon), but more by the soft skills and quality-of-life improvements for our participants and those who are part of our wider community.
Art is a natural tool for understanding and embracing emotions. We pride ourselves on committing to not running from a person’s emotional state, working when we can to accept our participants’ journey, looking for them to feel that feeling, and helping them reflect on it before moving on.
We are a proud proponent of PBS (Positive Behavioural Support) and are currently undertaking a refresh project to ensure we embody every aspect of the PBS framework, working to the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) criteria.
We are, however, aware that we should never feel that we are finished, as constant learning and exploration should be accepted with humility and celebration.
